About Us

WOPB derby party in the woods.jpg

From the onset, The Women of Palmetto Bluff’s roots lie in its current mission statement: Connect and Give Back. The WOPB began with small gatherings known as “Socials,” providing both new and existing members the opportunity to frequently gather, connect and socialize. These Socials became a mainstay throughout the year as friendships and community connections were forged.

Additionally, our founders recognized a need within our greater Bluffton community and established a way to give back to Bluffton charities through a yearly local charity sponsorship. Though our organization has grown drastically in scope and size since the early days, those roots have never changed. Socials are bigger and better than ever and continue to be held from September through May. Our annual fundraising endeavor has become a “can’t miss” event, garnering overwhelming community support from all facets of Palmetto Bluff.

We invite you to join this vibrant group of women. As Palmetto Bluff continues to grow, the need for all of us to gather and support each other and our community is more and more important. There is a place for everyone in The Women of Palmetto Bluff! Please join us!

Summer Volunteer Opportunity

While schools are closed in the summer, Backpack Buddies continues to provide for local families in need through the Bluffton Farmer’s Market. They set up a booth at the Market where families come to pick up tokens to exchange for fruit and vegetables.

The Women of Palmetto Bluff support this worthy cause by volunteering to man the booth and distribute the tokens to the families on Thursday, June 30 and  Thursday, July 14.

Because it is so hot, we will need 2 volunteers for three 2-hour shifts for each day (total of 6 volunteers per day). This is the most interactive, heartwarming volunteer opportunity that exists throughout the year!

If you are available on June 30 and/or July 14 and are willing to volunteer for a 2-hour shift, please contact  marykmurphy@me.com  or 904-631-0805.

Giving Back:
2021-22 Sponsored Charity

Each year the Women of Palmetto Bluff sponsor a different local charity by donating member time as volunteers and offering needed financial assistance. This past year's sponsored charity was Boys & Girls Club of Bluffton, whose mission is to enable all young people to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. BGC of Bluffton provides a fun, safe and affordable place for young people, ages 6-18, when they are not at home or in school.
