Volunteer
We offer a wide variety of volunteer opportunities within our organization and through our sponsored area charities. Volunteer opportunities are varied and plentiful, whether it's volunteering behind the scenes to help with our social events or fundraisers or volunteering at one of our locally sponsored Bluffton charities.
And YES! We could use your help!

BackPack Buddies of Bluffton and Hardeeville

Who We Are
A high percentage of children in our schools are food-deprived, especially on the weekends and in the summer when they are not in school to receive free breakfast and lunch. BackPack Buddies provides multiple programs to help bridge the food gap.

What We Do
A few examples are that the most at-risk school kids receive bags of food on Friday to help them over the weekend. Over the summer, these at-risk kids have no school lunches, so the program supplies vouchers at the Bluffton farmers market - (note this helps kids and farmers).
The goal is to help eliminate this chronic childhood hunger because hungry children cannot focus & learn, their physical development suffers, and their health & emotional well-being are compromised.

Save The Shutters

Who We Are
Save the Shutters is a charitable effort administered by the Community Foundation of the Lowcountry, dedicated to helping homeowners who have been temporarily displaced from their home, or have a barrier to access, due to degradation of the home, or an event that has caused an unsafe/unhealthy living environment, and do not have the means to restore it.

What We Do
Save the Shutters works with teams and volunteers in the community to pool resources, time, donations, and kindness to make this goal achievable. They work closely with the Town of Bluffton’s Neighborhood Assistance Program, and many other charitable groups, to manage the process of which funds can be used, how much is available, and what needs to be supplemented through Save the Shutters.

South Carolina Nurse Retention Initiative (SCNRI)

Who We Are
The South Carolina Nurse Retention Initiative (SCNRI) was launched in 2021 and works to combat the growing nurse shortage facing Beaufort County and Hilton Head Island. The program offers a financial incentive to nurses who remain employed in Beaufort, Hilton Head and Jasper County Primary Health Care. This not only has a positive impact on our local health care system, but on the lives of the 34 nurses who have been the recipients of this financial incentive — who have been given the opportunity to grow their careers and prosper while remaining in our area.

What We Do
Award recent Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) grads and Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) grads up to $9,000 (BSN) and $6,000 (ADN) over two years based on merit, dedication to the nursing profession, financial need, educational mobility and long-term commitment to practice in Beaufort, Jasper or Hampton counties – including specific geographic areas where funding has been made available. Applicants who represent the diversity of our community are welcomed. SCNRI has agreed to focus the distribution of our charity funds to the Bluffton Community.
